Newcastle Library Redevelopment

Tarpey Woodfine Architects were appointed to undertake a feasibility project to convert a former 1960’s library in Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre into a mixed-use development. The scheme proposed leisure and retail uses on the ground floor and a series of one- and two-bedroom apartments on the upper floors wrapped around a central communal light well.

Due to the existing levels of the building a series of duplex apartments were proposed to make an economical use of floor space. It was proposed to retain the existing under croft for parking, cycle storage and waste collection.
