Hassell Street

Situated within the conservation area and at the heart of Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre, this project involved the complete gutting of the former council offices and basement public conveniences to make way for 30 modern self-contained student accommodation studio units, two common rooms and laundry facilities. The project included the complete internal alteration and external refurbishment of the original 1950’s building, which had become something of an eyesore in the town.

The building’s external refurbishment works, whilst contemporary, required careful setting out to ensure that the façade did not undermine the surrounding vernacular. Particularly due to neighbouring buildings being listed and within the town’s conservation area.

The studio units amenities include high-speed networked internet access, full kitchen and independent sanitary facilities, secure key fob and intercom building access, and high energy efficiency heating & lighting.
